Meet Captain Martin

Fishing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Germany, where my fascination with the water started as soon as I was old enough to walk. If there was a pond, river, lake, or stream nearby, I wanted to know what lived in it—and more importantly, how to catch it. That curiosity quickly became a lifelong passion.
More than 20 years ago, I moved to New England and found a fishery unlike anything I had ever experienced. From the incredible striped bass fishery of Narragansett Bay to chasing bluefin tuna offshore, I immersed myself in learning these waters. Even after thousands of hours on the water, I'm still a student of the sport. Every trip, every tide, and every season offers something new to learn.
Preparation has always been at the heart of everything I do. Long before we leave the dock, I'm studying weather forecasts, tides, bait movements, and recent fishing activity. Every rod is rigged, every reel is checked, and every piece of tackle is organized and ready. I believe successful fishing starts with preparation, and I take pride in leaving as little to chance as possible.
When you step aboard, you're not just hiring someone to drive the boat. I'm right there with you throughout the day—rigging tackle, coaching techniques, clearing lines, celebrating every hookup, and working just as hard as you are. Whether it's your first time holding a fishing rod or you've spent a lifetime on the water, my goal is to make you feel comfortable, confident, and part of the team.
Growing up playing competitive hockey taught me lessons that still shape the way I operate today. Success comes from preparation, communication, and teamwork. I approach every charter with that same mindset. We work together, adapt to changing conditions, and give ourselves the best possible opportunity for success.
No captain can promise that the fish will always cooperate—that's why they call it fishing. What I can promise is that you'll step aboard a meticulously maintained boat, fish with premium equipment, and spend the day with a captain who genuinely loves what he does and is committed to giving you the best experience possible. If you leave with great memories, new knowledge, and stories you'll be telling for years, then I've accomplished exactly what I set out to do.
Our Boat - Fathoms
Coastal Current Charters runs a 2023 Everglades 235 Center Console, a premium fishing platform built for comfort, safety, and serious performance. Whether we're working the rocky shoreline for striped bass, drifting productive structure, or heading offshore in search of bluefin tuna, the Everglades provides a smooth, stable, and confident ride.
The boat is equipped with modern Garmin marine electronics, including GPS, sonar, radar, and navigation tools that help us safely and efficiently find productive water. From locating bait and structure to navigating changing conditions, our electronics play an important role in maximizing your time on the water.
The open center-console layout gives anglers plenty of room to fish, fight fish, and move around comfortably, while still offering seating and protection for guests who want to relax and enjoy the ride. It’s a versatile setup that works well for experienced anglers, first-time fishermen, families, and sightseers alike.
Every trip includes the highest quality tackle selected for the species we’re targeting that day. From light-tackle striped bass setups to heavy offshore gear for tuna and sharks, all equipment is carefully maintained, organized, and ready before each charter.
